Well, my wife bought this one in 2003:
But then we moved to arizona, it didn't have AC so it had to go. We then bought this one in 2006:
Then we moved to Maricopa, gas got so expensive I was spending over $100 a week to commute. We sold it off for a POS VW. Certainly regret that mistake. I wanted another jeep, so I picked this up:
It was cheap, came with 3 or 4 different lift kits and a lot of the parts that are on my current jeep. When I realized the title trouble would be more of a pain then the 4 cylinder xj would be worth I bought this:
I wheeled it a little,
Even broke it on the trail
For a while I thought about working out the title trouble and keeping both,
but then the title issue, the fact that 4 vehicles and 2 drivers isn't worth it, the 4cylinder and ax5 suck and my wife being more of a wrangler girl I parted out the 4 cylinder and reduced it to this:
Toolbox helped me take it to the scrap yard, and I started building the 87
I sold some parts, bought some parts, and traded some stuff. when the peugeot ba10/5 transmission gave up reverse it was time to start the build and swap to ax15
Then I started building it bigger
Then my wife lost her gig, and we had to hunker down for the financial storm. Wasted a lot of money trying to keep the house we are now short selling anyway. 2 years later I HAD to get this finished so I can move it to a new place. Soooo, here it is.
and some day I need to drag this thing out here and do a resto on it, although it's way cooler than any jeep can hope to be.
I think that about sums it up....
