camping spot***update*** READ ME!!

im going up north tomorrow to see where we should camp. i have two spots in mind. the one spot i dont think we can fit everyones vehicles in along with tents and crap. im gonna check out both. i will post up pictures and get everyone a map or directions by this weekend.

ok found 2 spots big enough for our group. real nice area and weather up there today. being a holiday weekend it was getting pretty busy. i expect both of these 2 spots i looked at today to be open next friday when myself,wes and roger go up. we will decide friday witch we like better. both spots are off fr147. the first spot, i hope it drys out alittle.....
fr147j the turn off from the road will be on the left

i was the first tracks through the snow

off in the distance is the spot. lots of room in the trees and a fire ring. its past the litte medow on the right.a little water flowing here.


the next spot is prob a mile up the road from this spot. its got tall trees and very nice. we where not able to get any pictures of the spot. people where going in as we came out and they camped there. it goes way back and to the left. they camped there cause they had a trailer.

the directions to these ar
hwy 87 north of strawberry
at mile marker 281 make a right onto fr300 rim road
after 100yrds make a left follow the signs for rim rd fr300
about 4 miles in you will come to fr147 to potato lake make a left
the first spot is not to far down on the left at fr147J turn onto it and follow 1/4 mile if you dont see us turn around go back to main 147 road and keep going past
if we are not there keep going untill you see fr 9265e on the left
it goes in and to the left. you will see us cause it dead ends.
if you got to potato lake turn around u went to far. we will have a copacrawler sign out on the main 147 road.

Looks good. Cool to still see a little snow on the ground for the adults and maybe some kids to play in !!

both spots were great and are within hiking distance to the 'lake'...more like a big pond the weather was perfect today too! i'm thinking jeans and t-shirts will be good enough for the daytime, maybe even shorts. bring a jacket to the water though, the breeze off of it is chilly! and as always, expect cold nights!

Both spots sound great! Looking forward to it for sure. We will leave Friday after work so we'll be up late Friday night - we'll probably hit the road around 7:00-7:30. How long is the drive up?

From copa it was like 3 hrs. Sounds like u should just come up sat morn.

We usually get to our site late - doesn't bother us as long as everyone is ok with us showing up late.

Don't matter to me. As long as the kids don't get woke up when u guys roll in. I'm sure we will still b up.[center]

so long as my enormous number of kids can run around and not kill themselves or others is fine with me

We'll be leaving about 7am on Saturday morning, maybe a little earlier....

I'm SO looking forward to getting out of town for a change of scenery!

Am I taking the "official" picture this weekend? I'll just bring all my equipment in case

We'll come in quietly but I make no promises since Kody is a loud ball of energy. I'll hog tie & gag him...

Does anybody have gas or battery powered chainsaw that they are gonna bring camping this weekend? We are gonna need a lot of firewood for a big, long, hot fire with as cold as its gonna be. I'm bringing an ax with me as I figure its easier to pack txEhen a ton of wood lol.

I have a 10"-12" Dutch oven for that awesome dessert someone mentioned... Let me know if I should bring it or not.

Dottie I talked to Roger and he said no on the dutch oven. They found another way to make the dessert !

Other than running around and drinking, what is everyone bringing "to-do"?

I have a stack of magazines i need to go thru. I made a scavenger hunt for the kids. A deck of cards has been packed.

I think I'm bringing up Bocce ball and croquet (sp?), not sure, I think Ryan asked my dad for it
